He is the author of \u003ci\u003eShame: The Power of Caring\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eThe Psychology of Shame: Theory and Treatment of Shame-Based Syndromes\u003c\/i\u003e. He is the coauthor with Lev Raphael of \u003ci\u003eDynamics of Power: Fighting Shame and Building Self-Esteem and Coming Out of Shame\u003c\/i\u003e. With Lev Raphael, he co-developed the program, \"Affect and Self-Esteem,\" on which \u003ci\u003eDynamics of Power\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eStick Up for Yourself!\u003c\/i\u003e are based. He lives in Michigan. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eLev Raphael \u003c\/b\u003ewas educated at Fordham University and received his M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
