It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled \u003ci\u003eKing of Wolves\u003c\/i\u003e based on a script by Buronson, writer of \u003ci\u003eHokuto no Ken\u003c\/i\u003e (\u003ci\u003eFist Of The North Star\u003c\/i\u003e). \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eIn 1990, the first volume \u003ci\u003eBerserk\u003c\/i\u003e was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled \u003ci\u003eJapan\u003c\/i\u003e. Miura's fame grew after \u003ci\u003eBerserk \u003c\/i\u003ebegan \"The Golden Age\" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eIn 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of \u003ci\u003eBerserk\u003c\/i\u003e that aired in the same year on NTV. \u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eThe series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game.
