She later embraced multiple dimensions of activism that included national and international racial justice and Black feminism. Integrating activism in government, Salima Siler Marriott Gibbs was an elected delegate to the Maryland General Assembly for sixteen years before being appointed tthe Deputy Mayor of Community and Human Development of Baltimore City, 2007-2010.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBringing Into Being Our Legacy is the story of Salima Siler Marriott Gibbs' life and the legacies of the sixteen women who were the primary influencers of her evolving adult life.
