He holds a B.S. from the University of Cincinnati, a M.Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan. He has served as a parish pastor, a Bible translator, a nursing home chaplain and as professor at several institutions.
