Ajuan Mance's comic Gender Confessions take up each of these questions and more, as it invites to share in those moments that mark the path of a gender explorer.\u003ch3\u003eAuthor Biography\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAjuan Mance \u003c\/strong\u003eis a Professor of English and Ethnic Studies at Mills College and a lifelong artist and writer. In her scholarly writings as well as her art and comics, Ajuan explores the relationship between race, gender, and representation. An African American literature specialist, she is the author of \u003cem\u003eInventing Black Women: African American Women's Poetry and Self-Representation, 1877-2010 \u003c\/em\u003e(U Tennessee Press, 2007) and \u003cem\u003eBefore Harlem: An Anthology of African American Literature from the Long Nineteenth Century \u003c\/em\u003e(U Tennessee Press, 2016).
