I omitted the Afterword, Index and the 17 chapter headings provided in the 1986 edition. The book originally consisted of a series of 52 weekly installments by Hirschfeld published in \u003ci\u003eDie Freundschaft\u003c\/i\u003e (Friendship) in 1922 and 1923. The series was to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Scientific Humanitarian Committee, the world's first LGBT organization, co-founded by Hirschfeld.
