An unsettled European out\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eof place in a neighbourhood she calls home with its\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003efenced, stolen and, too often, desecrated land. Who bears\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewitness to political abstractions and aberrations yet fails\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eto wholly reimagine or rematerialize these through poetry\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edespite her attempt to uncover the regimes of terror of\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003esettlement perpetrated by the symbolic. Whose breath\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ecatches again and again.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOtopos is a reckoning, an elegy, an ode to the Merri\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCreek trail that snakes through Melbourne's northern\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003esuburbs and colluvial slopes, teaming with native flora and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003efauna, but also imported weeds and predators, including\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ehumans. In its arrangement in three parts, the collection\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eunfolds displaced fragments and glimpses of histories\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethrough call and response of landscapes and beings.
