This book is the first and most complete biography to be published about Henry Theodore Cushman -- his family, Civil War service, inventions, and manufacturing business in North Bennington, Vermont. H. T. Cushman Manufacturing is famous for the Cushman Colonial Creations line of furniture designed by Herman DeVries and also produced earlier popular designs including "rod and ball", mission style, smoking furniture, and American antique reproductions. Cushman patents cover a wide range of products and span the time period of late 1800s to mid-1900s.
Author Biography
Dr. Susan Bonser is emerita faculty of the College of Education at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania and has held creative positions in professional media, from art directing Mademoiselle, Self, and Vogue magazines to directing Internet operations for the New Jersey Devils NHL hockey club. At the same time, she has designed and licensed unique housewares, written books, launched her own mail order catalog, and won awards for decorative confectionery. Her last full-time position was managing the website and social media for the Gettysburg Foundation, a partner of the Gettysburg National Military Park. Most recently, she co-founded the Adams County Journal with her husband and produces a blog about the restoration of their 1884 house. Though she has worked in many media, the focus of her very long career has been the creation and application of advanced digital media for marketing, communications, and education. She earned a doctorate in education with a specialization in distance education. Her previous books include, "Life with Cushman: A Cushman Colonial Creations Memoir."
