My interest in the Beatles all started with me reading an article on Buddy Holly performing in a back street pub in Liverpool which led me to discover that Ringo Starr lived on the same street. This took me on a journey to find out where these four lads grew up in the back streets of Liverpool, which years later inspired me to restore and preserve as much Beatles heritage as I could, Finding along the way places and stories that not many people know about. This would then be the core to this book in which I describe my time as a live in custodian of Paul McCartney and John Lennon's childhood homes, working for the national trust. My passion made me walk the back streets of Liverpool for 17 years looking and finding the places where these four lads grew up to be the biggest band ever...
Author Biography
I was born in Manchester the late 40's and grew up on the cobbled streets of Harpurhey in a broken home. Eventually I moved in with my Grandma and travelled the country with my uncle Bernard, who sold lamps to fairgrounds up and down the UK. When I was old enough at the age of 14 he put a good word in for me at the garage where he used to have his van serviced and from there I became a skilled mechanic. After 17 years I acquired a job at British Aerospace which is where my interest in the Beatles began. I am now 65 years of age and recently retired from being a janitor at Rochdale fire station, my passion with the four lads and where they grew up is still as strong as ever.
