Uncover Untold Stories of Healing and Remembrance in the Face of Racial Violence

Memoried and Storied moves beyond the outrage and horror of Post-Civil War lynchings to compassion for the victims, giving them a name, a life, and a multi-racial, multi-generational community-led ritual for healing and remembrance. This book illuminates the power of community-based remembrance projects in building awareness and dismantling systemic racism.

Explore the ordinary lives of four victims of racial terror and the extraordinary efforts of communities to honor their loss and promote reconciliation. Through vivid narratives and color photographs, this book demonstrates the effectiveness of remembrance events in fostering empathy, building awareness, and moving toward a more just and equitable society. For readers interested in African American history, social justice, and community healing.
