Author Biography
Nancy Harbert Ellsworth found her home on the concert stage at the age of four, when she performed her first violin recital at the College of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She nurtured her talent through the years, studying with Lucie Bruch, Naoum Blinder, and Efrem Zimbalist, and earning degrees from Mills College and the Curtis Institute of Music. Her career includes positions with the Denver and Pittsburgh Symphony orchestras. In the Washington, DC area, she served as concertmaster and soloist with the orchestras of Wolf Trap and the National Gallery of Art. After twenty-five years she retired as Concertmaster Emeritus from the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. She pursues her career as a professional coach and private teacher in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
