Quodlibets, by Robert Hayman, is quite likely the first work of English poetry penned in North America. Author Biography

Robert Hayman (1575-1629) was a prominent Englishman who served as the governor of England's colony in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland from 1618 to 1628.
