by Jeffery Russell (Author)

For thousands of years, Native Americans did much of their cooking over a traditional style campfire without what may be considered modern appliances or tools. The meals and recipes in this book have stood the test of time. Included are a compilation of many of the simple yet wholesome fares that you and your family can enjoy when out camping. One of the most popular reasons for camping is the feeling you get from 'getting back to nature'. Regardless of what you consider roughing-it, be it tent, RV, or cottage camping, one thing that they have in common is the campfire. Campfires are always a big hit and act as a focal point, drawing people together, and being able to cook meals while sitting around it and enjoying time with others is a can't lose proposition. Although the traditional forms of these recipes are given, most of these recipes can be easily adjusted for your specific dietary needs, or can be otherwise spruced up to suit your taste. Enjoy

Author Biography

Jeffery Russell, born and raised in Canada, has been camping his entire life. He loves good meals, and doesn't understand why roasting hot-dogs over the fire constitutes many peoples ideas of what a camping meal should be. Jeffery camps throughout the year-in fact late spring and early summer are his least favourite times because of the bugs. Most of the meals are good and hearty, and keep him and his family warm while camping out in a foot of snow in December. The author also enjoys traditional fare, and being able to cook easy meals and teach others, including his children, how fun and easy good campfire cooking can be, feels that he is passing on an important legacy.
