Thailand's Festival of Lights is a time for two special traditional events. The First is Loy Krathong, which gives thanks for the blessings of the river. The second is Khom Loy, which gives thanks to the Buddha in heaven. The picturesque festival symbolizes leaving darkness behind and looking to a bright future. The lights sent into the air and into waterways are offerings to the Buddha and the goddess of the river.
