Originally published in 1923, Thought Currents presents William Walker Atkinson’s New Thought account of ideas as active currents or vibrations capable of affecting the thinker, surrounding environments, and other minds.

Atkinson asks readers to become conscious not only of what they think, but of the mental influences they receive, strengthen, and transmit through repeated attention. He explores concentration, suggestion, mental atmosphere, collective thought, personal magnetism, and the formation of habits and character.

Fear, pessimism, confidence, purpose, and constructive intention are described as forces that may gather strength through repetition. The work therefore becomes a practical philosophy of directing attention, cultivating deliberate thought, and resisting passive absorption into the prevailing mental currents of others.
