As we observe the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe on May 8, 2015, I feel compelled to give readers a starting point-a comprehensive book of the war in Europe that will either answer questions or lead them to deeper research on their own. Finally, this book is not just a biographical military history; rather, it is a narrative of the time period. Accordingly, I cover a considerable amount of detail on the Holocaust, partisan and anti-partisan warfare, the contributions of civilians, women, and multiple minorities, as well as breakthroughs in military intelligence and science.
